Chef Jonathan Vullo’s passion for the culinary arts was ignited at a young age, inspired by a family legacy steeped in creativity, precision, and a deep love for food. His father, Phillip Salvatore Vullo, a renowned commercial advertising photographer, instilled in him a meticulous eye for detail and aesthetics—skills that now translate to his approach in the kitchen. On his father’s side, Sicilian and Neapolitan roots run deep, with a family history of candy makers, tincture artisans, and watchmakers—all emphasizing craftsmanship and care.
Equally influential was Jonathan’s mother, Jennifer, a talented home cook and professional food and prop stylist who exposed him to global flavors and inspired a fearless curiosity in the kitchen. Alongside his brother, Chef Jason Vullo—Co-Owner of Community Brew & Tap—Jonathan grew up helping prepare large family meals, learning the rhythms and rituals of hospitality from an early age.
After attending Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, Jonathan trained under Chef Gabriele Grigolon, a Milan-born culinary director for Conte Restaurant Group. There, he immersed himself in classic Italian technique and philosophy. His culinary journey continued in high- profile kitchens, including opening and managing BLT Steak and BLT American Brasserie under the guidance of celebrated chef Laurent Tourondel.
In Atlanta, Jonathan joined the team at Kevin Rathbun’s acclaimed steakhouse, where he helped refresh the award-winning menu by incorporating his signature globally influenced flavors. His recent work alongside Chef Craig Richards at Michelin-recognized Lyla Lila further deepened his passion for Italian cuisine, particularly pasta-making.
Today, Chef Jonathan Vullo is the Chef and Co-Owner of Farmacia Trattoria in Cornelia, Georgia—a restaurant that celebrates house-made pasta, Neapolitan-style pizza, and thoughtfully curated dishes rooted in heritage, technique, and bold, seasonal flavor.
